Will Neymar Jr go back to Barcelona?

Having made a world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from FC Barcelona in 2017 for a transfer fee worth €222million (£200m/$250.3m), Neymar Jr continues to be linked with a return to the Spanish club.

In truth, things have been far from rosy for the Brazilian superstar whilst in the French capital, however is a move back to Blaugrana a possibility? For those that fancy the move to happen, a wager can be placed at a bookmaker like XBet.

Neymar Jr’s time at PSG

There is no doubt that Neymar Jr has been an enigma whilst in France for PSG, as he has continued to be a superstar and play at the top level of his game. Although massive price tags can generally weigh down on an individual’s shoulders, it seems as though the South American has been completely unfazed.

To put things into perspective, the 28-year-old has been able to register 69 goals and 39 goals in the three seasons he has been in Paris. That certainly appears to be money well spent from the Ligue 1 giants, especially considering he has helped them to three league titles.

Injuries, Attitude and Ego are a problem

However, there have been a few different things that have perhaps proven to be blackmarks on his career at PSG.

Neymar Jr has had to deal with his fair share of injuries since making the short trip from the north of Spain to France. Due to numerous injuries and fitness concerns, the 28-year-old has missed 62 games over the three years he has been at the club. This will have been incredibly frustrating for those associated with the club, as they would want to get the maximum return they could from a player they splashed out a world record transfer fee on.

Additionally, attitude on and off the pitch appears to be a real problem for the Brazilian superstar as he is not as far away from the headlines as many would have hoped he would be at times. The attacker has missed nine matches through suspension; making a huge 71 games missed during his short stay in France.

Neymar Jr has alienated everyone he has come into contact at PSG as well including fans, which could make Barcelona second-think about making a move for him again in the future. Despite the sheer quality he has, the incredibly gifted footballer appears to make more enemies than friends, even amongst team-mates at club and international level with his arrogance.

What would Barcelona think?

Of course, Barcelona may think nothing of it and feel the South American is just acting up because he has been away from the Camp Nou but there might be nothing they can do about it. With Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules playing a huge role in club’s business affairs – even if the rules don’t necessarily remain adhered to; the Catalan’s may not simply be able to afford to bring him back or accommodate what would be his astronomical wage demands.

One other thing they may have to contend with if he were to make a quick return is the relationship he has with Lionel Messi. It was no secret at the time that Neymar Jr had left Blaugrana because he wanted to get out of the shadow of the Argentine ace. Although the best player in the world, arguably, has a limited time of his career left, he’ll still be there for the vast majority of the Brazilian’s as well.

Verdict

Indeed, it would not be a surprise if Barcelona were to try and bring Neymar Jr back to the Camp Nou, as the 28-year-old did prove incredibly successful during his time at the club with 105 goals and 77 assists in his 186 appearances.

However, with financial concerns, his attitude, ego and party issues away from the field, it might be just one too many things for the Spaniards to care about trying to handle and one that they might think is not worth going back to.
