Neymar’s Ballon d’Or votes went for Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mascherano
During an interview granted to Globo TV (a Brazilian media), Neymar has revealed that he had voted for Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Javier Mascherano, for the 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or award. While Messi‘s vote was more than natural to happen since the two have been playing together in Barcelona since the summer of 2013, it was his choice to deliver Real Madrid‘s Cristiano Ronaldo some points as well that definitely surprised most of the people.
Neymar was also keen to grant Mascherano a place in this podium, by selecting him as the 3rd best player in the world in 2014. The Argentinian however, already knows he’s not going to win the award, since FIFA already revealed the 3-name shortlist for Ballon d’Or a few weeks ago, in which only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer are featured.
The FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place in Zurich on the 12th of January of 2015 and the winner will come out of a big voting poll, where the current coaches of national teams, the current captains of national teams and specialist journalists will all have a say in the matter. Being the captain of the Brazilian National Team, allowed Neymar to become one of the few members of this jury and to cast his votes to elect the next best player in the world.
