Brazil sealed their preparation stage for the World Cup with a 1-0 win against Serbia this Friday night, but it was far from being a great performance by the “Escrete“. The match was played in the Morumbí stadium in São Paulo and by looking at the very bad pitch and turf conditions, it must be said that the decision of playing in such a poor ground was extremely irresponsible and dangerous.
Fortunately, there were no serious injuries to report and despite a poor Brazilian display, Scolari and his men completed their second friendly with a second straight win.
The only goal of this game was scored by Fred already during the second half, as were playing the 57th minute of tonight’s friendly. The Fluminense forward chested down a great pass from Daniel Alves on the right, ended up losing his balance and falling to the ground, but somehow managed to keep his composure and still strike the ball past Serbia‘s goalkeeper.
Neymar played until the 80th minute of the game and while he was on the pitch, he always looked one of Brazil’s biggest threats in the attack. The Barcelona forward is still picking up his rhythm though, but he should get better as the World Cup progresses.
The opening match between Brazil vs Croatia will be played right next Thursday (June 12) and it will mark the beginning of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
